Belly Button: flat
Food cravings: popsicles or  anything cold. Whole Foods makes yummy lime popsicles that taste like a virgin margarita (I'll take what I can get!)

Dear baby: we've had so much fun setting up and preparing for your arrival. I love looking at your tiny clothes and setting up your closet. i've loved looking for pink, ruffles, and tiny sizes at the store. I think I have every outfit at babygap memorized. hope you like to play dress up because we have lots of outfits for you!

Wow, what a fun weekend! Our moms came up to celebrate our ny shower and help us prepare for baby girl. It was a fun filled weekend. We managed to squeeze Ikea, PB Kids, Target, Chili's (yum!), and Buy Buy Baby all into one day. It was us girls, a mini van, and a full day of shopping on Friday. Saturday we enjoyed mani/pedi's and massages together then headed over to Amy's apartment for my baby shower. The girls did such a beautiful job and made me feel so special. Baby girl got lots of goodies! We ended the night with dinner outside at a favorite restaurant and walked around the west village with gelato on a perfect summer evening. Sunday we decided it was time to "rearrange" the apartment and make room for this little one so we literally switched the entire layout. We started at 10am and finished at 10pm. Let's just say, we made a few memories out of that day that we will laugh about later, but in the end we were exhausted but it felt good to have it done. Monday our moms got to join us for a sonogram. She was a little shy and didn't give us a good look but it was still fun to have them be there and experience a sonogram with me. What a beautiful weekend it turned out to be. We are so thankful to have such amazing moms who love us unconditionally and are 110% supportive of everything we do. We love you guys and can't wait to see y'all in August when she arrives!

30 weeks

Gender: girl
Movement: so much movement lately. those lumps are now turning into small lumps too so I'm thinking it's her hands and elbows. sometimes if I lean forward too much (and my belly hits my legs) then I feel little toes or fingers moving against my belly and legs. always makes me laugh. she goes through a hiccup phase at least twice a day
Labor Signs: nope
Weight gain: 21 lbs.
Belly Button: flat, i think her foot or knee is right under my belly button. if I push down all of sudden I get a response from her and can feel something very small.
Food cravings: cherries and fresh fruit, hello, summer!
Missing: sushi this week.

Peak of the week: ordering the crib! we aren't sure if we are going to stay in our current apt or move, but ordering the crib feels great - especially since it had a long lead time, glad I didn't wait any longer!
Not Loving: sleeping. I really have to exhaust myself before I can go to sleep, urgh.
Looking forward to: mom and mother in law coming in town this week and my nyc baby shower, plus we'll all get to see a sonogram of her on Monday! it's going to be a fun weekend!
Dear baby: sorry for all the pokes and jabs babygril, but I just love feeling you move in there and feeling what I think are your feet and hands! you are certainly an active one. a friend told me once you are born I'll be able to see you making the same moves in person, can't wait to see what you've been doing in there!

And...happy father's day to Trae, you are going to be such a wonderful father. You've already been a great dad to little Pippa. I must say, no one else can put a diaper on her quite like you can ;)

Gender: girl
Movement: yes! and she's officially head down which is good! also love feeling her hiccup. i've noticed all my shirts are getting pills around the tummy area from me rubbing my tummy and feeling her move! they should really make maternity shirts with stronger cotton around that area :)
Labor Signs: nope.
Weight gain: 20 lbs
Belly Button: still flat.
Food cravings: sweets! Kobeyaki is my new favorite restaurant, i've splurged for lunch several days in a row there lately.
Missing: wine on a patio!...still

Peak of the week: seeing her move so much in there. I actually felt an elbow or foot in there the other day!
Not Loving: sleeping only on my left side. it really is the last position I would choose to sleep in, but it's worth it to know it's best for her.
Looking forward to: a relaxing weekend with trae!
Dear baby: your kicks and moves are so funny. I'm starting to wonder if it's a sign of your personality. I keep wondering what your personality is going to be like, what will make you laugh, etc. can't wait to find out!

28 weeks

Gender: girl
Movement: she's moving so much in there and I really love it, even when it's painful. my tummy looks like a wave pool! one minute I can feel a huge hard lump, the next, nothing. I'm thinking you still have plenty of room in there to do flips.
Labor Signs: nope
Weight gain: 19 lbs
Belly Button: flat!
Food cravings: anything sweet, love that cherries and nectarines are in season now! I also love eating the whole foods fruit "leather bars" aka the healthy version of fruit roll-ups!
Missing: wine on a patio!
Peak of the week: it has been one crazy week after another full of celebrations and friends. Megan got hitched and I enjoyed time with Sara while she was in town and got to sneak in a few dates with the husband.
Not Loving: sleeping is really hard with such a large tummy. I feel like I'm lifting weights every time I want to roll over in bed. on the good side - the heartburn went away and I'm back to eating spicy things again, thank goodness - a texas girl can't go long without something spicy!
Looking forward to: summer! hopefully the beach is in our near future!
Dear baby: we can't wait to meet you baby girl! I keep wondering what it will feel like to lock eyes with you when we first meet! i'm thinking you might have your daddy's personality, i've been awfully calm this pregnancy which is not really like me. we also have a name for you now!  so fun to look at that belly and call you by name.

{hostesses, such beautiful girls with sweet hearts!}

What a fantastic weekend! Flew into Dallas early Thursday and went straight to Mi Cocina with my mother in law where we enjoyed lunch on the patio on the most gorgeous day! A perfect way to be welcomed back to Texas. My mom and dad joined later and we went baby shopping the rest of the day. Friday started off with wonderful mani-pedi's to celebrate Kathryn {the bride to be} followed by lunch on the patio at Gloria's, pool time, and dinner at Eno's in Oak Cliff. We celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday with brunch on the patio sitting by the pool and spending time with Chase and Chelsea then it was off to see Kat get married. Sunday was my first baby shower followed by take-out Mi Cocina (are you sensing a pattern?) on Caroline's patio and lots of fun girl talk. Monday came too quickly but I managed to squeeze in some shopping with my dad and lunch on the patio (another pattern) again. It was really one of the best weekends and my heart came away so full and completely loved by friends and family. What an amazing group of people I've had in my life. They always make it really hard to leave Texas!

{my dad cut roses from the garden and put them in my bathroom, what a treat!}

{loved getting to catch up with her, the next bride-to be!}

{she makes one beautiful bride!}

{me and dad}

{me and mom}

{shower time}

{rah, rah, tcu!}

{these girls mean the world to me}

{we are so blessed and baby girl is very loved!}

big sister

hi baby girl,

Meet your big sister, Pippa. Not sure she realizes what's coming but she's starting to know something is up. She's spying on your new toys she knows she can't have. She's a real sweetie and a show stopper on the street. She loves little kids and they love her, so we think you guys are going to get along just great.

{she loves to pose for the camera}

{she likes to sprawl out and get comfy}

{this is her sleepy face}

{she could stare outside all day long}

{so long, she eventually falls asleep there}

{she can impersonate Elvis pretty well}

{she likes to play dress up}

{she thinks she owns this place, top of the sofa is her spot}

{she's a really good snuggle bug}

{she already likes to snuggle with you too, except when
you kick, that seems to scare her a little}

23 weeks

Gender: girl
Movement: of course! trying to figure out how she's positioned in there. I can see a wave now when she moves. Used to only be a quick "bump".
Labor Signs: nope
Weight gain: 13 lbs.
Belly Button: barely hanging "in" there.
Food cravings: ice cream or chocolate
Missing: a good glass of white wine on a ny patio. it's going to be hard to get through summer without my favorite hobby.
Peak of the week: Newsies with Trae. such a great Broadway show!!!
Not Loving: trying to fit babygirl in a studio. we finally broke down and got a storage unit. for most people storage units hold things they don't need for awhile. since we live in nyc we only have what we need. fortunately our winter clothes we can do without for a few months so thats whats in storage.
Looking forward to: a weekend of bachlorette fun celebrating megan hitz, soon to be divine!

22 weeks

Gender: girl
Movement: I think this girl likes to dance, when music comes on she is a dancing machine! (I'm sure she gets it from her mama!). Her kicks are getting stronger and Trae can feel her actually rolling around in there.
Labor Signs: nope
Weight gain: 11 lbs, I think I need to be eating more, supposed to gain a pound a week. I'll work on that ;)
Belly Button: still shallow, I must say, this is a really weird thing to notice changing on your body.
Food cravings: we had jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon earlier this week and now I have been craving them but can't eat anything spicy right now (see "not loving"). sigh, all the good things keep going off limits.
Missing: sleeping on my tummy. the dr. had said this was fine to do until I felt uncomfortable. well, my tummy is officially large enough that I feel super uncomfortable.
Maternity Clothes: bought a bright pink Isabella Oliver dress. Her stuff is super cute and shows off my lovely lady bump, instead of making me look like a potato.
Peak of the week: low key dinner night with matt & amy and morning coffee on the pier with our community group - sometimes it's the small things!
Not Loving (new category) this is going to be where I document the things I'm not loving about pregnancy or new changes: Friday, after I ate my yummy takeout Thai Spicy Noodles I had the worst pain in my chest. Almost like I couldn't open up my lungs/ ribs enough and there was a burning right above my stomach. I honestly thought I was just really sick from something I ate until...it continued for the whole weekend. Then I started googling. Yep, one of the lovely signs of pregnancy is apparently indigestion and heartburn - bingo and boo. I'm only halfway though this shin-dig, I thought you were supposed to feel like cloud 9 during your 2nd trimester. Apparently that's not always the case as "what to expect, while your expecting" reminded me on my 22 week email which I got a few short hours later.
Looking forward to: date night on Wednesday with Trae. We are going to see Newsies on Broadway!

the apt take over begins

Yes, we've finally made two big purchases....a stroller, and the baby bedding. If you know me, I don't do anything halfway. I research everything till I'm blue in the face then sit with the options, and then make the decision rather quickly. Last month when my mom was in town we went to Buy Buy Baby and spent two hours looking at strollers even though I'd clearly put in my own time of research and had a pretty solid decision on what I wanted - always love to analyze things again with mom though :) it's what we do! Well, after making up my mind I wanted to get it asap. Why? I think its the "nester" in me that wants to feel like we are making progress and preparing for baby (even though its going to sit in a corner for 4 more months, I don't care). We currently live in a studio and will be here till babygirl is two months old. The bassinet of the stroller will be her "bed" until we move and can set up a real crib. So technically, I have her "bed" done. Feels good. Poor Pippa isn't sure what to think of this yet.

Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Hempkins for the stroller!

AND, I also ordered the bedding. I really wanted to do something similar to John Robshaw, then I found this line....SO PERFECT! Their baby bedding is discontinued but after a lot of research I was able to find a source that still had it! It's by Rikshaw Designs and they have tons of adorable clothing for babies too! I think it will be fun to mix a little pink in with it. What I also love is that it comes with the quilt that matches the bedding. This will be something I can keep forever as a memento of her crib.

I think I'll add this pillow in with it too!

Are these not the cutest little outfits? I'll take one of each, in pink please!

So there it is, two big things on my list - feels good to get them completed. Now I can stop looking at bedding - it was really depressing since there are so many bad options out there!

sleepy girl

Yesterday we had our 20 week sonogram. It was another sonogram where they look at each part of the baby. This time our dr switched over to 3D! We always said we wouldn't want to see the baby in 3D since it's kind of cheating. Well, we didn't know it was something you could do by a quick switch of a button, apparently you can, and apparently they don't warn you. It was amazing to see her so life-like in there! Here is the adorable photo we got to walk away with.

She's already sleeping like her daddy!

When we left, Trae kept saying "I thought we weren't going to do the 3D" as if I had a say in it. I just kept laughing and asking - "we'll did you hear a warning that I didn't"? Either way, and cheating or not, I'm glad we got to see her. Can't wait to hold those little hands and kiss that little nose.
